Winter Weather Message

Winter weather message from the superintendent
Posted on 01/03/2018
Winter WeatherDear Parents and Guardians,

The forecast for dropping temperatures this week has led to questions surrounding school closings. School closings are based on a variety of factors to ensure the health and safety of students and staff. According to the Monroe County Department of Public Health, schools are recommended to use a wind chill of about -25 ̊ F as the temperature to consider closing schools.

We are closely monitoring the weather conditions and will continue to consult with district staff (e.g. transportation, buildings and grounds, security), local authorities, regional school districts and governmental agencies to ensure the safety of our students.

In the event of a closing, the decision to close before the school day begins is generally made by 6 a.m. and would be publicized via the school notification system, local media outlets and the district’s website.

For more information regarding school closings, visit our website here.

Thank you for your continued support and we will notify students, staff and families should school be canceled.
