2019 Summer Work at Transportation

Summer is a busy time at the bus garage.  We have approximately 30 buses that transport students everyday to summer school programs, as well as special events and trips.  We also do a complete cleaning of every bus in our fleet during the summer, and we've had our new buses delivered!  You'll see them on the road in September.  As well, there is a new bus loop being constructed for our Ginther and Barclay Schools on campus.  This will greatly increase the safe arrival and dismissal for our K-3 students.

Lastly, we are looking forward to our annual Kindergartner Safety Training Event.  It will be held here at 58 Owens Road this year on Aug 14 and 15 from 5-7pm - no registration needed - just show up on one of those days.  Our newest students and their families will learn about bus safety, visit the bus garage, talk with drivers and mechanics, and get a bus ride to our campus.

Mission

The Transportation Department at Brockport Central School District covers 72 square miles, including the towns of Hamlin, Clarkson, Brockport, Sweden, and Adams Basin. Each of the 115 transportation personnel, from office staff to bus drivers, and bus attendants to mechanics, work together to safely transport approximately 3,800 students to 45 different schools.

Philosophy

To provide a safe ride to and from school for all students.

Transportation to and from Childcare Provider/Daycare

All requests for transportation to and/or from a childcare provider, daycare center or latch key center must be submitted by completing the form available below and sending it to the Transportation Office prior to July 1 of each school year or within thirty (30) days of moving into the district. Requests received after transportation routes are established will be approved on a space available basis.
BUSING REQUEST PROCEDURE CHANGE

The following operational changes have been in effect since September 1, 2013 to ensure the continued safety of our students. The Transportation Department will take requests for bus route changes pertaining to babysitter locations and secondary residences/dual residency as follows:

  • All bus route change requests will require three (3) school days advance written notice.
  • Requests will only be processed by the Transportation Department staff. (Request received at school buildings will be forwarded to the Transportation Department and may delay the start of the requested change.)
  • Same day or single day bus requests will not be accommodated.

Written requests can be completed on the Transportation Request/Babysitter Form and faxed to (585) 637-1885, mailed, or brought directly into the Transportation Department building at 58 Owens Road, Brockport, NY 14420. The Transportation Request/Babysitter Form is available below (see link below), at all elementary school main offices, or at the Transportation Department building. Once the request is processed by the Transportation Department, the parent/guardian will be given the new busing information.

Please plan accordingly and make alternate arrangements in the event you need to change your child’s busing location in the future. Having a plan with a trusted adult who can be at your house in the afternoon when the bus arrives is helpful when emergencies arise.

Any permanent changes to your primary address will continue to be handled by the Registrar’s Office (585) 637-1891. This office will notify the Transportation Department and the request will be processed within three (3) school days.

Thank you for your cooperation and patience as we continue to ensure the safety and well-being of all students.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact the Transportation Department at (585) 637-1880.
