Back to School Reminders

Back to school reminders for families
Posted on 08/21/2019
With the 2019-20 school year approaching fast here are some back-to-school reminders for families.

Is your contact information up to date?

Please remember to notify the registrar’s office when your contact information changes so we are able to reach you in the event of an emergency. You may contact the registrar by phone at 585-637-1857 or email at registrar@bcs1.org.

The district uses an automated messaging system called SchoolMessenger to quickly communicate important messages to families via phone and email. In the event of an emergency, such as a lockout or lockdown, calls will be made to all parent/guardian’s home, work and cell phone numbers, along with emergency contacts 1-4 listed on the Student Profile form updated every September (or when there is a change in contact information). The text of the messages will also be sent via email.

The district will also periodically use the automated messaging system to share other information such as open house reminders or last minute event changes. Information classified as “non-emergency” will be sent only to the primary home phone numbers and email addresses on file.

Visiting the Brockport Central School District

The safety and security of students and staff is a priority at Brockport Central School District. All visitors who enter any school on campus during school hours are required to show a valid, government issued photo identification (ie: driver’s license) upon entry. Our computerized system scans the ID to ensure there is nothing indicating they should not be allowed into the building, including clearance by the national sex offender registry. The ID will not need to be re-scanned during subsequent visits because it is saved in the system. A customized visitor pass will then be printed for each guest to wear for the duration of their stay in the building.

The system, called the Raptor Visitor Management System, was implemented effective for the 2017-18 school year as an enhanced safety measure. The system more thoroughly screens visitors and strengthens our ability to track who is in the building during the day.
