Grading and Testing Information

The New York State (NYS) Board of Regents has submitted a waiver to the United States Department of Education (USDOE) requesting the cancellation of the upcoming state assessments. The USDOE has approximately 90 days to respond to the NYS Board of Regents waiver request. Currently, we are waiting on a decision to determine next steps. A letter was sent to families with the most up-to-date information, as of March 26.

Brockport's grading practices follow a standards-based framework designed to provide direct feedback regarding the student's mastery of course content. Unlike what students experienced during the emergency remote learning last spring, grades will not be "pass/fail" this year. We have returned to our traditional grading structures. Remote and hybrid students will need to demonstrate they completed work by a previously shared due date and meet academic standards. Report cards for our K-5 students will be standards based. Students in grades 6-12 will receive report cards that are numeric-based.
