Updates and Information

The New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) has provided updated guidance that applies to our Brockport Elementary Literacy and Numeracy summer program (7/19/2021 to 8/12/2021), and our Brockport Summer ELL program (8/3/2021 to 8/20/2021).

This guidance continues to require our layered prevention strategies, which include daily health screenings, cohort groupings, contact tracing protocols and sanitizing protocols, but provides situational dependent face covering flexibility.

This guidance, consultation with Monroe County Department of Public Health, the current low infection rates, our continued layered prevention strategies, and our low student enrollment for these programs that maintains six feet distancing of student desks, enables us to provide this flexibility as safely as possible for our summer programs listed in the initial paragraph.

For these programs during these dates, appropriate face coverings worn correctly will continue to be mandatory on all busses, but optional in classrooms. However, when students and staff are interacting indoors with distances of less than 6 feet for periods of 15 minutes or more, appropriate face coverings are required for all involved. In situations where students are required to wear masks, respective staff must also wear appropriate face coverings regardless of vaccination status.

This guidance also provides the flexibility for appropriate face coverings to no longer be required indoors for vaccinated individuals in offices and other indoor areas on our campus where there is no student programming.

Please know we continue to strive for the proper balance of safety and comfort as we progress through this difficult and confusing time. Also please know that individuals who are not required to wear a mask but feel safer continuing to do so are also fully supported on our campus.

Additionally, the Center for Disease Control (CDC) recently released guidance for fall school reopening. We are still waiting for our governing agency, NYSDOH, to adopt this guidance or provide immediate updated guidance for school reopening this fall.

We are continuing to advocate for the immediate release of this information from NYSDOH and Governor Cuomo so we can accurately plan for our return to school and provide accurate updated information to you in a timely manner.
