Assessments and Data

Assessment Information

Assessment is the strategic collection of direct, observable evidence of student learning throughout the learning process, in order to inform teaching and learning. Data are collected and made available for staff use from a variety of sources. Fostering new ways to measure and monitor student learning is an ongoing task for the educators of the district.

Grades 3-8 Assessment Information

New York State schools are required to offer the following assessments in the spring:

  • Grades 3-8 English Language Arts
  • Grades 3-8 Mathematics
  • Grade 5 and 8 Science

You can find information about the assessments on the New York State Education Department website, as well as the assessment schedules. Specific schedules for each building will be shared, as well.

All assessments in grades 3-8 are computer-based. New York State Education Department has provided a Question Sampler for Computer Based Testing, for those who would like to practice with their student.

Advanced Placement Exams

Brockport offers Advanced Placement courses with the expectation that students enrolled in each course take the AP examination in May as a part of the course credit. There is a fee that College Board sets for the exams which is published each fall. Students will register with assistance from each of their AP teachers during the first few weeks of school in the AP classroom for access to learning modules from the College Board. This registration will also automatically order each student an exam for each course in which student is enrolled.

NYS Regents Exams

You can find information on the NYS Regents Exams on the New York State Education Department website.

While each school will communicate the Regents schedule, you can find more information regarding exam schedules from the New York State Education Department:

Data Dashboard

Brockport Central School District has launched a Data Dashboard that works as an all-encompassing visualization of our student performance. The Dashboard highlights Brockport’s Enrollment and Demographics, PK-5 Reading Proficiency, 3-8 State Assessment Results, Regents Results by Course, Graduation and Post Secondary Data, Athletics Enrollment, Performing Arts Enrollment, Clubs and Student Participation, and Electives. We track and analyze this data to help understand our progress and where we have regressed. This new dashboard allows Brockport to remain transparent and keep our community informed while providing our District the opportunity to be held accountable in order to align with our goals for our students.
