Brockport High School Named ACT Work Ready School of Excellence
Brockport High School has been recognized as an ACT Work Ready School of Excellence, a prestigious national designation and the first award of its kind presented by ACT. The honor was awarded during the ACT Summit held in Nashville, Tennessee, in July.
The recognition highlights Brockport High School's commitment to preparing students for success beyond graduation by connecting them with employer-recognized credentials and career readiness opportunities. Central to this effort is the ACT WorkKeys National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC), a credential recognized by nearly 30,000 employers across the country.
To earn the designation, Brockport High School and the Brockport Central School District demonstrated a comprehensive approach to workforce preparedness. The application documented strong partnerships with employers, colleges, and work-based learning organizations; student success in earning career readiness credentials; and the integration of New York State's Portrait of a Graduate attributes throughout curriculum, assessment, and instruction.
The district also highlighted the incorporation of ACT WorkKeys into its Sophomore Seminar program, along with efforts to align course offerings with nationally recognized career clusters that meet ACT's standards for workforce excellence. These initiatives help ensure students are developing the skills, knowledge, and experiences needed to thrive in both higher education and the workforce.
The ACT WorkKeys National Career Readiness Certificate serves as a valuable credential for students as they enter the next stage of their educational and professional journeys. By earning the NCRC, Brockport students gain a nationally recognized credential that demonstrates workplace skills sought by employers across a wide range of industries.
