Fire on Campus Statement
June 14, 2025, a fire broke out at our Buildings and Grounds facility on campus. While the facility and its contents were destroyed, we are incredibly grateful that other than an individual health concern, no staff members or emergency responders were injured. The cause of the fire remains undetermined and is currently under investigation by Monroe County Fire Investigators.
We extend our sincere appreciation to our security team and the many fire departments that responded swiftly and collaboratively, including Brockport, Kendall, Spencerport, Hamlin, Clarendon, Bergen, Hilton, and Murray. We also thank the Brockport Police Department, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, SUNY Brockport Police, and Monroe Ambulance for their continued support on site.
The affected area will be secured this afternoon and school district operations will resume as normal on Monday.
For the safety of everyone, all staff, families, community members, and visitors must avoid the impacted area of our campus until further notice.
Thank you for your understanding, cooperation, and continued support as we work through this challenging situation.

Report from the Brockport Fire District:
Saturday, June 14, 2025 09:05 Hours STRCTA- Automatic Alarm at 200 Central School Drive at Brockport Central School Maintenance Facility
Multiple calls to 911 stating the “Grounds Building is on fire” and a call from the school district confirming something is on fire on the campus. As calls continued to come into Monroe County 911, Brockport Firefighters were dispatched for the structure fire with smoke coming from the roof of the building next to the football stadium.
At 09:09, first arriving Chief Tim Smith declared a working fire while reporting the roof was fully involved on the five-bay garage. At 09:15 Command reported the roof had collapsed. At 09:25 Command declared a Level 0 Haz-Mat due to a fuel spill from heavy equipment in the facility. The fire was declared under control at 10:13 hours though crews were on scene for several hours thereafter.
Mutual Aid was called from Clarendon, Bergen, Kendall, Murray, Spencerport, Hamlin-Morton-Walker, and Churchville with fill-ins from Gates, LeRoy and Hilton. EMS was provided by Monroe Ambulance.
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office with their drone unit were assisted by Troopers from the New York State Police, Officers from Brockport PD, SUNY Brockport PD and traffic was controlled with assistance from the Brockport Fire Police Squad.
An extensive decontamination process was necessitated by the materials our equipment was exposed to. This enabled us to prepare the hose and equipment for continued use without having to replace it.
The fire is under investigation by the Monroe County Fire Investigation Team.
